Microbe-gästbok
Den microba-gästboken är ett medel för att undersöka olika sätt att märka vår omgivning och de osynliga aktörer vi lever tillsammans med. Att se ens kropp som ett utrymme fyllt med invånare, att din kropp inte bara din, det är ett hem för så mycket mer. Det finns andra inuti och utanpå, som lever i symbios med oss, som expanderar utanför kroppens gränser. Genom tid och generationer anpassar de sig och bearbetar livets förändringar. Bakterier är början av världen och förmodligen slutet, förfäderna till allt, och kopplingen mellan det förgångna, framtiden och nuet. Att överföra detta sätt att tänka på världen är en möjlighet att förstå att vi inte är autonoma kärl som kan verka på egen hand, vi rör oss tillsammans i ett större system.
Under Master utställningen MAOW (design excavations) som hölls på Göteborgs stadsbibliotek under Gothenburg design week i oktober 2019, ville vi ge plats för de osynliga i form av den microba-gästboken som ställdes ut i samband med detta. För att inte bara uppmärksamma de mänskliga besökarna, uppmuntrade vi till att lämna avtryck i form av en överföring av bakterier som fick bilda nya kolonier tillsammans med andra.
The microbe guestbook acts as a means of exploring different ways of noticing our surroundings and the invisible actors we live with. To see one’s body as a space filled with inhabitants, that your body is not only yours, it is a home for so much more. There are other actors inside and outside, living in symbiosis with us, expanding beyond the limits of the body. Through time and generations, they adapt and process as life changes. Bacteria are the beginning of the world and probably the end, the ancestors of everything, and the connection between the past, the future and the present. Transferring this way of thinking of the world is an opportunity to understand that we are not autonomous vessels that can operate on our own, we move together in a larger system.
During the Master Exhibition MAOW (Design Excavations) held at Gothenburg City Library during Gothenburg Design Week in October 2019, we wanted to make room for the invisible in the form of the microbe guestbook, which was presented in connection with the exhibition. In order to not only draw attention to the human visitors, we encouraged the audience to leave imprints in the form of a transfer of bacteria that could form new colonies with others.
